Scan to BIM – Turning Real-World Measurements into Precision 3D Models
Scan to BIM modelling is the process of converting real-world measurements into highly accurate 3D BIM (Building Information Model) representations.
At DG Modelling LTD, we specialize in laser-scanned point cloud data, using Revit to craft precise, intelligent BIM models that ensure exceptional accuracy and efficiency.
Phased Design & Construction Approach
Our Scan to BIM models allow for a structured, phased approach, starting with the existing building modelled in the 'Existing' phase. Designers can then seamlessly layer modifications across multiple phases, ensuring a smooth transition from concept to construction.
Enhancing Accuracy with Custom BIM Families
We continuously refine and improve our in-house Revit families, surpassing standard Revit families in accuracy and detail. This ensures that every project meets the highest standards of precision.
Optimized Accuracy for Practical Use
- Depending on scanner capabilities, we can achieve up to 2mm accuracy, though this level of precision can sometimes lead to excessive detail variations.
- To ensure models remain efficient and manageable, our standard accuracy levels are 10mm/20mm, balancing precision with usability.
- We’re happy to discuss custom accuracy requirements for any project.
LOD Specification Tailored for As-Built Models
Standard LOD specifications are designed for design-stage models, but we've developed our own LOD system specifically for As-Built modelling:
- DG Modelling LOD2, LOD3, LOD4, LOD5 (As-Built detailing)
- Different from traditional LOD300, LOD350, LOD400 (design-based detailing)
Powered by Innovative In-House Plugins
At DG Modelling, we utilize custom-developed Revit plugins that enhance:
- Speed – Faster model creation and data processing
- Detail – Higher accuracy and enriched BIM data
- Efficiency – Competitive pricing through optimized workflows
Our advanced tools and methodologies allow us to deliver top-tier Scan to BIM projects at high speed, exceptional accuracy, and cost-effective rates.
